Per the Des Moines Register, Polk County home values have increased 8.3 percent in the past two years! This is the biggest jump in more than a decade.
Residential property values have increased 8.3 percent on average over the past two years, according to preliminary valuations from the Polk County Assessor. That would be the biggest jump since 2005 and roughly double the increase seen in 2015.
Home values increased 9.2 percent in Ankeny and 7 percent in West Des Moines, according to the preliminary assessment data.
During the past two years, median home sale prices in central Iowa increased 9.1 percent from $155,000 in February 2015 to $169,000 in February 2017, according to the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors.
